The EasiYo Tactix are delighted to have lured talented New Zealand Under21 Team member Nicola Mackle back to the Netball Mainland Zone from Wellington, where she has been playing and studying.
The 20 year old mid-courter hails from South Canterbury, born and bred on farm near Timaru and educated at Craighead Diocesan School. Mackle is elated to have signed on the dotted line, returning to play her netball for the Tactix in the 2014 ANZ Championship season.
Having endured the disappointment of having to withdraw from the NZU21 team last month for medical reasons, Mackle is now ready to get back on the court.
“It must have been hugely disappointing for Nicola to pull out of the team which went on to win the gold medal at the World Youth Netball Championships in Glasgow,” said Mainland Netball Zone and EasiYo Tactix CEO Brigit Hearn.
“But now she’s fighting fit again, ready to play netball and we are set to welcome her with open arms.”
Hearn says it’s exciting to have a young player of Nicola’s talent join the Tactix squad.
“We’ve shown in the past we are prepared to develop young players and I think it’s fair to say we’ve been very successful at it.”
“We are extremely fortunate to have former Silver Ferns coach Leigh Gibbs at the helm, and her experience is invaluable in developing our young ones and taking them to the next level.”
“Nicola is exactly the type of player we’ve been looking for and she will boost our mid-court stocks immensely. We are really excited to have her on-board and personality-wise she’ll slot in with the other players beautifully,” Hearn said.
