North Canterbury Netball Centre

North Canterbury Netball Centre is based in Rangiora and includes clubs from all around North Canterbury from Oxford in the West to Kaiapoi in the South, Woodend to the east and Amberley in the North. We are very community based and have a centre we are proud to call Home! We pride ourselves on how friendly and well run we are and have a fantastic management committee that is supported by many people. Whenever people visit us we receive such great feedback it keeps all the hard work we do in perspective!

PREMIER / GRADE

Our grade competition is run on a Saturday and consists of Premier 2, Senior, Senior Reserve, 2nd through to 9th grade teams. This year we took our Premier 1 grade indoors on a Monday night. These games are held at 2 venues, Ohoka School Hall and Rangiora New Life School Hall.

ANZfutureFERNS

north cant1 Our ANZ futureFERN year 1 & 2 and year 3 to 4 programme is run on a Friday afternoon. The children love doing their warmups and cool down to music. We now run our ANZ futureFERN year 5 & 6 programme on a Saturday afternoon they have been trialing the new 6 a side game, the feedback that we have is that they love this version of the game. Our year 7 & 8 girls play their competition on a Saturday.

We have a Netball Academy running in Term 3 for our year 5 & 6 players

north cant2 During the season we run two festival days. The first one ‘The Rainbow Games’ is run in July and is a whole day with teams playing up to four games in the day all participants gain a rainbow coloured bracelet depending on how many goals the team has scored during the day. The Second one is the ‘Jellybean Tournament’ and we hold this at the end of our season this also is an all-day tournament with teams playing up to five games, the teams play for prizes of Jellybeans

UMPIRES

We are a very dedicated Centre towards our umpires and are proud to run a successful Umpires Development Group last season that is in place again this season and now moving along well. We have held a number of Umpire Workshops this season and have had fantastic attendance. Our centre is very lucky to have the caliber of umpires we have and it’s looking like we have some young ones to add to the list again this season.

REPRESENTATIVES

This year we were fortunate to be able to send both and U19 and an U17 team to Nationals. These teams were both cluster teams and included players from Selwyn, Hokitika, Christchurch and Mid Canterbury. We also have 2 x U15 teams competing in the U15 Netball Mainland Cluster competition and a Primary A and Primary B team. A huge amount of work goes in behind the scenes with Representative teams and we are grateful to have a team of experienced coaches, management and volunteers to support our teams.

NETBALL NZ UNDER 17 NATIONALS

North Canterbury Netball Centre were privileged to host the U17 Nationals this year. This was a great event to be a part of and we were blessed with great weather!

A huge thank you to all our volunteers who helped out during the week.

TWILIGHT NETBALL

We run a social summer competition on Monday nights over the Summer from October through to March – all teams are mixed and we have grades from social up to Premier. PLAYER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

We run a Player Development programme for talented players in the off-season. The programme covers Fitness, Skills & Drills and also incorporates nutrition and mental skills

This programme has been very successful and grown every year – this is run in 2 age groups – Yr 7 & 8 and Year 9-13
