Netball New Zealand is committed to continuing to develop the game with the introduction of programmes and initiatives that follow the Netball strategy Poipoia. The Mainland strategy is underpinned by a robust business plan, the delivery of which is supported by a network of skilled and committed staff and Centres. 

 

Our goal is to connect with all people, both young and old; to promote the game of netball; develop and upskill players; stage and manage events; support the courage, drive, and aspirations of young people to succeed and reach their potential, not only in playing but in all facets of the game.

There are approximately 23,000 netballers, coaches, umpires, and officials located throughout the regions of Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury to South Canterbury.  Mainland connects and works with 16 Netball Centres and participants throughout the Zone to support and develop the delivery network for Netball to meet the needs of local communities.

About the Role

The Pathways Development Lead (PDL) will collaborate with the Mainland Netball community to establish player identification and development opportunities primarily for players, within a transparent and accessible pathway by;

  • Building robust relationships with the Netball community to support and grow Centre capability around player ID and development.
  • Collaborating with and supporting the Tactix Head Coach (THC) in the set-up of the National Netball League (NNL) program to transition players from Centre representative level through to the NNL Team and beyond.
  • Work with NNZ to build and align player development systems in the Mainland zone.

We are seeking a skilled professional with experience in player development from emerging to high performance levels.  This role requires experience in designing and implementing effective development systems.

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of player pathways and development systems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and address challenges constructively.
  • Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders, including centres, players, coaches, and external partners.

Term

This contract is fixed term through to 30th November 2025.  Flexibility around work hours will be considered.  A review of this role will be undertaken prior to the end of the contract, with the view that this role will continue on a part time basis in 2026.
